6th Grade Science Research Project

As the students work on their 6th grade science research projects, I will be providing updates on this page.  This includes what we are working on as well as due dates.

On Thursday, February 8th, the sixth graders received the information sheet for their research project.  This sheet needs to be signed and returned on Monday, February 12th.  

The students also received a work completion sheet.  The students would have the opportunity to work with a partner or independently.  The work completion sheet needs to be signed and returned on Monday, February 12th.

On February 13th, the students received their organization sheet for their research project.  This sheet is due on Thursday, February 15th.   Students were asked to start thinking of their invention on Thursday, February 8th.

On March 1st, the students received their prediction, materials, and research parts of their project.  This information is due on Monday, March 12th.  

On March 1st, the students received time to begin working on their prediction for their project.

On March 6th, the students were able to use the Chromebooks and work on adding any materials as well as facts for their research.  The prediction, materials, and research are due on Monday, March 12th.

On March 8th, the students used Chromebooks to continue working on adding any materials as well as research facts.

On March 12th, the students turned in their prediction, materials, and research portions of their project.

On March 16th, the students began working on the procedure portion of their science research project.

On March 21st through March 23rd, the students received time to work on their Science Research projects during class.  The students used Chromebooks to add/revise information.   I went over all the students predictions, materials, and research with the students.  This information was returned to the students.  Students turned in their procedures on March 23rd.  

On March 22nd, an information sheet was sent home with the students.  Over the upcoming days and over spring break, students need to type and add/revise the various sections of their project.  Over spring break, I have been telling the students that it would be good to work on assembling your invention.  At the end of your project, you will be giving your presentation and need to bring in your assembled invention.  After returning from break, you will then work on on the remaining sections of your project.  Please see this sheet for more information.

On March 27th, the students received their procedures back during class.

On April 9th and 10th, the students received time in class to work on their science research project.

On April 13th, the students turned in their invention diagram and conclusion.

On April 17th, the diagrams of the student's projects were returned to the students.   

The students received a rubric for their Science Research Project.

On April 19th, the students received their bibliography sheet with directions for citing sources.  Students received the science research projects presentation rubric.  The students also received back their conclusions for their research project. 

The Science research paper and invention is due by Tuesday, May 1st.  Any late projects will be deducted one letter grade.   Students need to turn in their final copy along with all portions of their rough draft.

The students had the opportunity to use their extra computer time to work on their Science Research Project. 

Presentation note cards are due on May 1st.  Beginning on Tuesday, I will review these note cards in class.  

Inventions may be brought into school on Tuesday, May 1st and Wednesday, May 2nd.  

Presentations are from May 3rd - May 7th.
