5th Grade Science Research Project

As the students work on their 5th grade science research projects, I will be providing updates on this page.  This includes what we are working on as well as due dates.

On Thursday, January 18th, the fifth grades received the information sheet for their research project.  This sheet needs to be signed and returned on Friday, January 19th.  

The students also received a work completion sheet.  The students would have the opportunity to work with a partner or independently.  The work completion sheet needs to be signed and returned on Monday, January 22nd.

On Tuesday, January 23rd, the students will be reviewing possible topics for their Science Research Projects.  We reviewed the following website during Science class.  https://www.kidinfo.com/american_history/inventors_inventions.html.  

This website has links that can be helpful in finding the invention for the research project.

On Wednesday, January 24th, the students will be using the Chromebooks as they begin their Science Research Projects.

The week of February 5th, the students will get their research topics approved.  Students will work on their predictions, materials, and research for the invention.

On February 7th, the students received their organization sheet back for their research project.  The students then received Chromebooks to work on the next part of their research project.  

On February 8th, the students worked on their research project using the Chromebooks.

On February 13th, the students used Chromebooks while working on their research project.

The hypothesis, materials, and research portion are due on Thursday, February 15th.

On Wednesday, February 28th, the students received the directions for the procedure portion of the project.  

On Tuesday, March 6th, the students received time in class to work on their procedure as well as any research for their project.  Students also were able to use Chromebooks.  The procedure portion will be due on Thursday, March 8th.

On Friday, March 15th, students will be working on the results and conclusion portions of the Science Research project.  Students will be able to use Chromebooks during class.

On March 21st, the students turned in the conclusion and bibliography.

On March 22nd, an information sheet was sent home with the students.  Over the upcoming days and over spring break, students need to type and add/revise the various sections of their project.  The final copy will not be due immediately after returning from spring break.  Please see this sheet for more information.

On March 22nd and March 23rd, the students used the Chromebooks to work on their science research project.  I went over the procedure portion and returned this information during class.  

On March 28th, the students received back their bibliography pages.  Students received time to work on their research project during class.

On April 10th and 12th, the students received time in class to work on their science research project.

The students received a rubric for their Science Research Project.

On Wednesday, April 18th, the students reviewed and received an information sheet for their science research presentations.  On Thursday, April 19th, the students received the rubric for the presentations.  

The Science research paper is due by Tuesday, April 24th.  Any late papers will be deducted one letter grade.  The students need to submit their final copy along with all the rough draft portions of the research project.

On April 27th, the presentation note cards for the Science Research Project were reviewed in school.  Students need to use these note cards to prepare for next week's presentations.  Students may use these note cards during their presentation.  

Presentations are April 30th - May 3rd.

The students have finished presenting their research projects.  Great work!!!
