My name is Laura Franks and I am very excited to be back as the Physical Education Teacher at St. Catherine of Alexandria for the 2019-2020 school year!

Remember how much fun Kids Heart Challenge was last year?

And all the good it does for our students, both physically and emotionally?

We’re doing it again!

More than 50% of kids in this country do not get the physical activity they need and nearly 1 in 5 children is obese. Together, we can change that!

Kids Heart Challenge will kick off soon and you can get a jump on it by registering online NOW!

Here’s all you do:

1. Go to

2. Click on SIGN UP

3. Choose whether you had an account last year or not

4. Follow the prompts <3

Once you’ve registered, download the FREE mobile app for iPhone or Androidby searching for Kids Heart Challenge. See your Heart Heroes come to life, take selfies with your Heart Heroes, and even raise lifesaving donations from your mobile device.

You’ve been at the heart of our program and your support will continue to make a big difference in the fight against heart disease and stroke by assisting families just like Alexa's.

Thank you for helping our school and the American Heart Association, which has been supporting schools like ours for 41 years.

Kids' Heart Challenge will kick off on February 24th and run until March 20th! Click the link below to register and choose a Heart Healthy Challenge!

In the Alsip community I have been a gymnastics instructor for 15 years at the Alsip Park District. In addition to coaching gymnasticsI am also the Head Pool Manager and Swim Lesson Coordinator at the Alsip Sprayfari Aquatic Park during the summer.  After graduating from Illinois State University I was the Physical Education teacher at Rosa Parks Middle School for 5 years. At Rosa Parks Middle School I taught swimming and physical education to grades 6-8 and was also a Botvin LifeSkills Instructor. During the 2016-2017 school year I taught physical education, fitness and health at Queen of Peace High School. In my spare time I enjoy working out, playing sports, walking my dog, and spending time with family and friends. I am looking forward to seeing each student achieve success through movement this year!
